The Only 3 Cooking Oils You Need

You could stock your kitchen with bottles of sesame, safflower, peanut, and sunflower oil. But the truth is you really only need three to cover your bases. When it comes down to it, there are only three oils every kitchen absolutely needs. Epicurious food editor Rhoda Boone walks us through them ...

    AN OLIVE OIL FOR COOKING

    A VEGETABLE OIL FOR FRYING

    AN OLIVE OIL FOR DRIZZLING

I know Coconut oil is controversial but isn't it better than vegetable oil?

Not necessarily, Coconut oil has tremendous value over any controversy:

As far as Coconut oil being better than Vegetable oil? Of course it depends on which vegetable oil is being used, but either would need a "high smoke point."

    The article makes this recommendation:

"But if you’re willing to splurge, Rhoda recommends trying grapeseed oil (she likes Spectrum Naturals brand), which has a slightly higher smoke point and a cleaner flavor than canola."
