NEW TESTAMENT GENERATION (40 years)

To understand that a “generation” lasted forty years comes from the Pentateuch.

“And the lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years” (numbers 32:13).

All of Jesus doomsday prophecies were on the wicked generation living in his time not passing away until all these things first having taken place (Matthew 24:34)

The Greek word in the New Testament that has been translated as a “generation” is Genea. They try to insert genos ( meaning race. Howerver scholars showed that the New Testament’s use of genea could only be referring to the Jews of jesus lifetime (4BC-33AD) and not to the entire Jewish race.

They even wrote bible notes alnong with Matthew 24:34:

This age: the word generation is being used.

We are on solid ground in understanding that Jesus was referring solely to the generation of Jews who were alive during the 40 years between his ministry and the destruction of Jerusalem. If Jesus is referring to those Jews alive during his lifetime then his “Second Coming” must have occurred in 70AD. Such an understanding leaves Christianity in an awkward position. This is because if Jesus “Second Coming” had occurred during the war between the Roman and the Jews (66-73AD), why was it General/Emperor Titus and not Jesus who demolished the Temple, encircle Jerusalem within a wall, etc and destroyed the wicked generation ?
