The Bush, The Bush, The Bush is
on fire we don't want no water let the mutha
    phuka burn, burn mutha
    phuka burn...

The bush is on fire ya'll
he sat around and let poor people expire ya'll
he didn't give **** if they were two months old
or retired ya'll...if ya'll don't know by now
go take a bottle of tylenol...and just go...
cause chosen ignorance has got to go...

They saw katrina coming, yeah she was one
    bad mutha...I can't shut my mouth...because those N.O.
mouths were agape in disbelief...at this so called chief-
poor people count to this country as much as a pimple
on the azzzz of the earth...where dollar signs
and bank accounts put value on how much a life is worth
...unless the government has to rebuild a nation then lack of action
in new orleans is like iraq bombs detonating...in order to rebuild
you have to tear down or "let die" or "kill" (WTC was held by domestic
hands)...in order for the ultracapitalist to make money
certain things have to happen..I aint talking about paying brothers
to kill brothers lyrically while they rappin'...

Iraq was annexed for the dollar/new orleans was left to die no matter how
much the people hollered/while The Water Rose/
and the Bush burned to keep all the promises made to
Hallie's Burton so she could rebuild New Orleans/and ya'll only thought
you see this blatant lunacy on the "tell lies to yo vision" screen/

levees left naked of change when it's pants were worn out/
while funds were allocated so a "war with no reason" could wear
the flyest outfit...to the funeral of democracy...the United Snakes of
Hypocrisy...falsely declaring the freeing of freedom of a people
in iraq...while securing the poverty of "americans" /those arrested for
driving while black/ or just plain poor - in this land if you don't put out for the GNP, they want you O-U-T...

they just coopted katrina to help them with the dirty work

all the while the bush was on fire in New Orleans...

fingerpointing one minute/now the "pseudo king" and all the kings
men claim "don't play the blame game"...(but the resignation
of the FEMA man sure reaks of a scapegoat)...then reflippin the flipped script
already equipped with a back up plan...he said he took the blame...
    so called christian...

    (Back to the People)

while the bush was burning/ the people were dying
the superdome became a modern day slave ship -
people packed in tightly - by the thousands -
sleeping with children among vomit and excrement -
air wore the scent of death - oxygen becoming combustible
(maybe that's why gas jumped to three fifty a gallon)
    - hope was placing the noose around it's neck -
and a child was raped - because she was too poor to escape
    before Katrina came...

while the bush was burning/the bodies were floating/
the water was rising/people moved closer to the stars
they wished to nightly/ "star bright, star bright the first star
I see tonight - please give me the gift of flight - so I can be free -
in this land of freedom (?)"/ that's what the mother's sang/
father's heads hanging as if they swallowed all the worlds
pain/if a man can't protect and feed his family -what in
    life has he gained?/

self respect has committed suicide on Bourbon street/
and the desperation grew/ survival mode kicked in
as store doors and windows were kicked in/ people starving
for HELP/ white folks "finding food" / black folks "looting"/
the national guard comes in guns drawn /and we wonder
why the people started shooting/and while all
this was going down a New Orleans Bush was on fire...
    and I wonder

"Why, when Katrina's water broke and she gave birth
to pain (and change), didn't it put out the Bush that was on fire?"

    (maybe she was republican)

    DSS,

My B.I.T.S you know me...the revolution burns (no pun intended) deep inside me. My eyes remain wide open and I have a big fan for the smoke screens and distractions that are laid before us. I've just been working on my entrepreneur side so that I can have the cash flow to affect change for our peeps. Man, wait to you read the book i've started revolving around this whole tragedy. Once again brother, you know I got ya back. Peace, blessings, and much love.

    The way you write

There is a funny thing about poetry... how it can be beautiful but alarming, lyrical but fatal... :) But, one thing I know for sure, it can be brutally honest. I appreciate honesty and true feeling.
With this piece, you have said outloud what some of us can't or aren't.
    Thank you.
    Your loving sis, Cindy

You certainly know just how to turn a phrase poet. While this piece certainly was entertaining, you spoke the truth about so many of the twisted situations that have happened surrounding this hurricane. This was awesome.
