THE NEW JIM CROW: Mass incarceration in the age of colorblindness By Michelle Alexander Excerpts from p.25-26 “The notion of white Supremacy rationalized the enslavement of Africans, even as whites endeavored to form a new nation based on the ideals of Equality, liberty, and Justice for all… The Structure and content of the original Constitution was based largely on the effort to preserve a racial caste system-slavery while at the same time affording political and economic rights to whites… The southern slave-holding colonies would agree to form a union only on the condition…of the right to own slaves…The language of the constitution itself was deliberately veiled as colorblind by not mentioning blacks or slavery… The division of power between the states and federal government was the devise employed to protect the institution of slavery… upon this racist fiction rest the entire structure of American democracy”. Cause & Effect: Mass incarceration is just one means of many of the social engineering projects to keep the spirit of the caste system first molded in our constitution. The constitution has not changed with respect to black people because our rights and citizenship isn’t enforced. Its just for show, it’s a paper right, paper champion for freedom. The government enforces law that’s in the best interest for corporations at the expense of the masses.
