Many of us are quick to criticize and castigate and condemn others. However, who among us is without sin? How many of our souls are light as a feather? The following is just one of many on the Negative Confession. If you take both sources and figure the percentage of which you can truthfully say that you are blameless, how Pure are you?

    Well, the fact that:

    1. I'm a homebody (not a road-runner)

    2. Don't drink (drank a total of 8 times, mostly socially)

    3. Never touched a drug, nor taken a drag from a single cigarette

    4. Don't go clubbing (been 3 times in life)

    5. Live by the "Golden Rule" <~~~ at least TRY to

    6. Fought only twice in life (which was initiated by my opponent)

    7. Am faithful

    8. Have a heart as soft as a marshmallow

I would say I'm within the 92+ percentile.

Anything other demoting factor would be related to physical health-consciousness; which could use some correction on my end. I equate sin to the willful destruction to ones self, or others around you.

    I strive :)

One quick correction...I think you mean "How many of our hearts are light as a feather? Tehuti weighed the heart before Maat on the scales, and then gave the judgement to Ausar as he sat on the throne.

Anyhow, looking at the Negative Confessions or "Divine Principles of Maat", I am about 70% without sin, or 70% "pure" as you say.

35: Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
36: Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.
37: Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.

No, I do not mean how many of our HEARTS are light as a feather. The HEART is just one part of the soul.

    http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/soul.htm

Since we are LIVING, obviously I can not be speaking of our HEARTS being weighted by Tehuti in the Judgement scene in the Hall of Maat. In other words, we are not in the AFTERLIFE!

That is the part of the SOUL that is weighed. The AB (Heart) is what is focused on, with regards to judgement. The entire BA as a functional entity is not entirely judged.

Further, the Negative Confessions are in regards to the Final Judgement, though they are extremely appropo in serving as guide for one's life.

Ok, well I thought you were quoting the Hall of Maat in the weighing of the hearts...

    http://www.ancient-knowledge-breakt...ilderpictures/.pond/funerary.jpg.w560h224.jpg

...because it clearly says Tehuti weighs the "heart" (which represents consciousness). If the heart weighs more than a feather, then it is thrown to the neter Amam (a beast-like neter) to be devoured.

    Great thread by the way...

Thanks for your input. The purpose of this thread is to get some of us THINK concerning where we are at in our own lives. Critical self-examination. In this examination I am not focused soley on a "kemetic" interpretation our outlook. This goes to other issues such as the following:

    http://www.ghostweb.com/html

Scientifically speaking, it is impossible for a human 'heart' upon death to weigh less than a feather. And I am speaking of the human substance. Therefore I must assume the same of the 'soul' of which the AB is just one part. So, what in actuality are we speaking about in death if the 'soul' departs from the body.
