    “The Lost”

I am one of the lost
    The abandoned
    The hopeless
I am a lost cause because you say I am a problem

I am one of the lost
    The abused
    The defiant
You think you can silence me with your threats and your ways
    I’m not afraid
Through this dark journey I will find a source of light within myself

I am one of the lost
    The unknown
    The damned
Because of those in which prejudice lies

You try and suffocate me instead of help me breathe
You try to intoxicate me with your underground lies
    Your trifling alibis

You tell me I’m nothing but a number than look at your mistake
And try to get other people, other countries to join the ranks
When you got taps on every phone and scared that anthrax is going to rain from your kitchen sink
But we’re a first world country with a third world threat face
You do one lukewarm gesture and call yourself doing good
You see one person of color and assume they’re from the hood

You see one person who disagrees and see a terroristic threat
I wear a wrap on my head and you treat as if I am a Shi’ite mercenary whose against all else
You see an underweight colored child and shake your head as if the parent is to blame
And You see a preacher give a boy some maintenance and turn your head saying it’s not the boy’s fault, but what a shame

I am one of the lost
    And the oppressed
And it’s nighttime...late in the night and yet I’m still not at rest

    The clock chimes
And becomes darker with each stroke

Another song begins to play and its carrying a malicious message
And because it drills to another drum its considered something to cause damage...
Now understand, that the ways that one hears is just as dear to those as when some other song was sang by heart by those working in the factories...working in the fields...
Full of neglect, but thought stupid because of their foreign accent
When in their native tongue they were cursing you good and in case you forgot Jews were the original inhabitants of the hoods both in Germany and in the streets of New York

But anyway like I said I’m lost but I got this spark
That will prove you otherwise and tear your regime apart
As the world changes and you try to cloak them in the same outfit as yours
    Negative ethnocentrism
    Does nobody good
Allow and let live, although harmony is a long time coming
But the lost are talking and we’re waiting to here something...
    Something....

Nothing is lost on me of your intent here. Your words are powerful and determined, as they should be...wonderfully written.
