    Dolores Hanna-March 1, 1929-April 16, 2010

    Sydney/Celia/Cyril she gave birth to
But many more came through her mother spirit
    Through Physical-traditional and Principal education
She nurtured the expectations that greatness can begin
    From within
Her demonstrations of what one does
    When you love …
See, I know her soul spirit soars high above the Heavens
Giving lessons about how to fly high above
    For God’s love
    And because of she
We must remember to continue to do so here…
    Born Earthly
    Dolores Forbes
    Herstory
    May have changed her name
    And some may claim
Life strokes may have took her style
But I bear witness to this
It never took her infectious smile
Last time I looked into her face
I could trace the many miles she traveled
Saw the lover and the mother she had become
    Saw the Grand/Great/and Great-Great legacy
I am blessed to come from
Saw the West Indian in her skin
    Beautifully graced upon her face
    Saw the African American tenacity
See, to me she is not gone
Just again setting The Grandest Lady trend
To remind us that we continue to move on
To remind us the best is yet to come
To remind us we are never done
    Just learning life’s lessons
    She held on strong
To remind those of us who knew her
That Angels do bless this Earth
To remind us that beauty runs deeper than skin deep
To remind the heart that when it starts
It is never gone, not even in death
A last breath can’t erase the taste of love…
When others said this is the end
    She held on strong
    Breathing each breath
    Without speaking one word
    I heard
    NOT YET
    To show, only God knows
When it’s times to go home…
God gave us/She gave us more time
To give us more of her love to shine with us here
    Now her love shines everywhere!
    Her life blessings was this
    She kissed many lives
She inspired many struggles to become strives
    More than a Grandmother’s love
THIS is what a GRAND LADY is made of
I know her soul spirit soars high above the Heavens
    Even now, giving lessons
Probably, about “How to Soar even Higher”
Although, I desire her here Earthly
Her spirit is deeply within me
    Saying Grandaughter
    I am finally
    FREE!

    Soar on Grandmother….Soar.
