    Her heart turned to thunder
At the flash of his smile.
    It's been twenty years,
    And that's quite a while.

And though he was to her,
    An everlasting flame.
    He couldn't even remember
    The woman's first name.

    She's like a gentle breeze
    That has swiftly passed away.
    He vaguely remembers
    Their fires of yesterday.

    Because of the very present,
    It's better left this way.
    His wife and his children,
    Are what matters today.

    Maybe it's too close to
    A calculated sin,
    But she reminisces now,
    On what could have been.

    What would he do,
    What would destiny say,
If she could make him remember
    The fires of yesterday.

    Yes, my sista

you capture the reality of many with this piece...
sometimes it surprises us how the embers still glow with that steady heat...as if waiting for the stoking...

in this scenario, the past is best left in our minds....where only our memories can 'handle' the stroking....

brava, sis! thought provoking as always :)
