I have always taken pride in my ability to write & debate. However there are some members on Destee.com who blow me away with their ability to do the same. For the family, I'd like to know if you could form a debate team, who would you choose?

    My picks are as follows:

    Brother Samurai
    Brother Sun Ship
    Brother Isaiah
    Brother Sekhemu
    Sister River
    Sister KarmaShines

I'm not trying to flatter (or insult) anyone, that is my honest list. If I could pick a debate team from Destee members, that is who I would choose.

    My thanks as well, PAN.

Might I ask, if you could give examples of debates, in which caught your attention to the degree of creating our "team" (especially since my name appears first on the list  )?

    PEACE

    uhhhh ... i pick Destee ...

    lol

nawww ... just kidding ... but this is a wonderful thread Brother Pan!

All those listed are quite able to articulate themselves and their position! :toast:

I challenge them all to take it to the next level though ... voice chat ...

Debating in text is one thing, debating live on the mic is a completely different animal.

While i use the word debate, i really mean discuss / share. (Debate sounds so confrontational.)

I was speaking on this very topic yesterday, in the chat room.

All of us here, every Member, should be taking full advantage of the opportunity this community provides in sharpening one's ability to articulate themselves both in written word and orally.

I have grown considerably in my ability to do these things, simply as a result of being surrounded by all of you. I know that others have as well. I've seen them progress and it's a blessing!

This community provides us the opportunity to sharpen these skills, and this improvement manifests itself everywhere we go.

I remember during one of our book chats ... where everyone had the opportunity to read a portion of the book if they wanted to ... and it was quite clear that not everyone was on the same reading level ... but everyone took part! It made no difference that one was a little faster reader than another ... everyone felt comfortable enough to take part ... so those that couldn't read as fast, were learning how to read better / faster!

Likewise ... all Members may not feel comfortable yet, jumping into the discussions, but know, this is the place to do it! We are gentle and kind here. You can practice and learn. So jump right on into the mix! It's no big deal to us, if you misspell a word, or have run-on sentences, or any of that stuff! Shoot, take a look at any of my posts and you'll see this is true! There is not necessarily, a right or wrong way to share ... just start doing it! The more you do it, the better you'll get at it!

We are a learning community, and we should strive that every Member be listed as the best of us!

We can't get to a certain level of success, in any area, and be satisfied with it. So even our best debaters ... should take advantage of all opportunities here ... voice chat ... and continue to sharpen their skills.

If they happen to not need any sharpening, which could certainly be the case, their presence in these other areas ... talking, writing, sharing ... will help sharpen others, just by virtue of hearing and reading them!

    Yep ... we're blessed!

Since I started out with 6 let's leave it at that number: If you can pick 6 people on Destee to be on your debate team, who would you choose?

Gosh ... i got issues Family!

i don't like the dividing up of us in any way !!!!

other than the following of course:

Black People (Africans) ... Sisters ... Brothers ... Elders ... Youth

    Let's keep it simple.

i do understand that there will be times when "Teams" must exist

    but they make me cringe

could be 'cause i never got picked ... iono ...

any therapists in the house?
