    The Darkness

There are things in life we learn to abhor
Lines and boundaries we will cross…never more

    But there is another door

In moments of darkness, when the truth is made dim
Where lieutenants of the night overflow the cup’s brim
And elements of desire scream release from its shell
    Of hell-infested darkness, with a dark-infected smell

This darkness comes forth into morning’s twilight
As storm brewing clouds spill over from the night
And the stench of infestation infects the borders of good
Allowing urbanites to dance to the lore of the hood

We pretend to fall within parameters of the good and the meek
Being bold in our presumptions…in upholding the weak
But behind closed doors our hatred doth rage
Overcoming the pretense…’twas indignation we gave

As darkness ate away at the light within
Stumping out the small flicker of good we pretend
‘Til the righteous is no more…and evil is laid bare
And we give up the last vestiges, and signs, of our care
No longer fearing the pains of our good Lord’s wrath
We surrender to the hold of darkness’ grasp

    But there is another door

Where the light is bright and life gives more
Than drug-induced euphoria beyond dungeons door
Where animals are held prisoners of the goodness we share
And death is their reward…for the despair they did bare

There are moments when darkness can envelope the soul
When the soldiers of chaos are aggressive and bold
If we fall victim to its call, its minions, we’ll become
Dispensing our displeasure…and despair on everyone

    Stay strong

Wow!....This read like some "Fire & Brimstone" preaching, Bro. Baller!

    Food for thought!

    Well done. Well said.

And I will "touch and agree" with you that our People stay strong and out of the darkness.

    Brought to mind a verse.

    Rom.15

[1] We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
