The following is an interview with the legendary jazz musician and composer Horace Tapscott.

In the interview he breaks down the history of the Underground Musicians Association (UGMA), its role in the 60s Black Arts Movement, and how the Movement was targeted for infiltration and disruption by the FBI.

Very candid. Straight, no chaser.

My Moms introduced me to slow jams but I was on the gospel music and not the words though like any genre of music. So I started to swing to Jazz and met a few people hear and there along the way, making music while in Europe, playing for churches and events testing my style but came across a lot of info about the game of your post a few years back. Brothaz and Sistahz underground are still moving though I have to say...but not like back in the days. My Uncle Sun on my Father's side had his own band back in the day they said and that's where the musical genes came from really on my father's side. Nice post and history...hopefully I can get a jam session going one day on a piece of land in a garden amptaheater with tiki sticks all around. Now that's my dream dream to the heart...the kids on real music using it as a flow out to get into themselves cause after it helped me along with most of the arts. We as black folks are art in the highest form I must say...beautiful.
