What is the significance of this movie that we all know and claim to love so much.

I mean sug love the color purple. Prince wanted to see u laughing in the purple rain.

Let's take purple. What does it symbolize? POWER.

The next question is does it represent real power?

In the color purple there is a clear, concise, and calculated message.

Have you explored what that is?

You take a black man. You make him a beast. You make his "woman" hate him.

And you turn that woman into a lesbo.

Am I the only one offended that these two woman make love to each other?

I mean look at this icon... oprah.... harbo spelt backwards.

Obviously, she wanna wear the pants.

Look at it for what it is.

How many woman do you know that when they are in love, their "man" don't sleep right beside them?

Your high off the lies on the tv.

    Since when is "charity" public.

Rich people (meaning having the root of all evil) have one agenda to maintain the power that they have.

So a man sells his soul to the "devil" that they create to obtain power, prestige and riches here in the world, and so does his woman.

Birds of a feather flock together, because they can't get near the real thing.

Now the only question left is how far will they go to keep it.

It's really all entertainment to me.

    Corn produces corn.

    That was deep.

I read somewhere where two other movies were broken down this same way. (Superman & the Wizard of Oz--I think, both resulting in 'white-power' over Black subjugation.)

The power of Hollywood is all too often 'under-guestimated', in it's influence over OUR Children. (If allowed.)

Though still ridiculous, great lessons can be learned from the 'ridiculous'.

    Interesting.

    also....

    Sexuality

Today the color purple is also known as a "pride" color among the gay community.

    * At the June 24, 2007 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade, Yahoo passed out 3 7/16" in diameter round plastic stickers with a picture of a gay man or woman imaged as one of the Yahoo Gay Pride avatars against an HTML/CSS Purple background that said Out, Proud, and Purple. [29]
    * In the mid 1970s, there was a gay piano bar at 2223 Market St. between Noe and Castro in San Francisco called the Purple Pick

Yes, there seems to be many meanings for the color purple. I guess its symbolic meaning depends on the holder of each individual. In other words, what the color represents for them.

In the movie "The Color Purple" perhaps it symbolized a moment of internal enlightment, balance, and peace.
