The Changing Tides

For a long time, I pondered
the message of the changing tides:
the ebb and flow of the sea.
I asked, the blows that life had dealt:
part of some karmic pay back?
Something to gain knowledge
by sharing struggles?
Jolts to awaken the sleeper?

I felt change taking place,
I saw an old world
teeming with new thoughts,
ideas springing countless from the cosmos!
Yet many were those who could not accept
‘The Gift,’ fearful of change, slaves unaware,
trapped in their confined spaces.

Silently I would think thoughts
to awaken the sleepers
but when it came to writing,
the words I drew made no sense!
Who would ever listen or try to grasp
the message calling out to them
from my heart?

Then I met the man without a face,
whom many considered strange,
and I saw what most could not see:
one who did not think like a human,
whose innocence of earthly values
caused him to take my mis-turned words
and make them speak as I could not,
and make them dance as I had dreamed
they would someday!
