    i looked over the horizon

    everywhere i looked

    water

    a blue-green oasis
    of life-sustaining liquids
    that could not sustain
    my life.

    no

    it was high noon on the southern seas
    we took to the waters
    my boat and me

    two hours came to pass
    dark clouds...mean and rude
    winds, viciously blowing
    as a storm began to brew
    the sea grew angry waves
    that tossed us to and fro
    wrapped in billowing winds
    the bucking waves we rode

    we struggled wildly to stay afloat
    the breaks broke hard out there that day
    we wanted to leave those southern seas
    but all we did was toss and sway

    when the raging came to cease
    the waters...still and calm
    when the clouds had moved away
    and the winds stopped singing their song

    i saw a rainbow hovering above
    remembered the thing taught as a kid
    placed my soul and love in GOD
    and sailed the waters as noah did

    as sun connected with the sea
    we cruised along
    my boat and me

    a school of dolphins swam on my right
    singing and dancing in the twilight

    i cut the music
    ...pulled down the sail
    coasted a while
    until we stopped still
    to witness the calm
    of a once raging sea
    i glanced at my friends
    they gazed at me

    we listened...quietly
    communing as one
    man and mammal
    both watched the sun
    not a sound broke through nature's rhythmic song
    that held me captive
    in the sunset's calm

    as the day's last light soon faded from the sea
    blankets of darkness
    covered boat and me
    the dolphins stood watch
    singing their marching tunes
    as they circled the boat
    like good soldiers do

    i listened...intently
    waves lapping the sides
    dolphins singing low
    my spirit filled with pride
    i thought of the danger
    that could have enveloped me
    but i rested in the assurance
    that GOD was protecting me

    ~~~~~
    the call of the sea
    ...it sang to me
    the birds
    the dolphins
    a relaxing melody
    the spray from the sea
    came up to greet me
    as we traveled along
    my boat and me
    i thought
    here and there
    the old man of the sea
    who still rides the waters
    as happy as can be
    though, he is no more
    and cannot be found
    they still hear his voice
    over the ocean's sound
    we came
    we enjoyed
    the calm of the sea
    during evening's sunset
    just my boat and me
