    ~for eric~

    I can’t consider you
    a waste of sperm
    that’s not my call

    ~but young man
    not grown up,
    just tall~

    let me speak
    plain English
    so you can
    ‘feel me’

    HOW DARE YOU
    creep
    like stealth
    in a midnight
    attack

    trynna drop the bomb

    after this last
    scene from
    your
    disappearing
    acts?

    ~young man, grown
    tall, not up~

    full of ‘potential’
    aged with the
    ravages of your
    vices

    your self-abused
    state wrenches
    my heart

    I remember you
    at 11 years old
    luminous brown
    eyes

    so innocent,
    so beautiful
    so full of
    "surprise"

    this vision of what
    you’ve become
    haunts me sometimez
    (but I ain't had to
    wash your dirty
    drawz;
    your problems
    weren't 'minez')

    you had a woman
    a faithful wife
    you have a daughter
    with a promising life

    oooh, YOU!
    the author of
    the book called
    “Why Must I Be
    Like That?”

    YOU, da big man
    got BIT
    by the CAT!

    YOU
    the ring leader of
    the emotionally
    inane

    you abandoned
    true love
    and embraced
    the profane

    slave … to the drugs

    parasite … to the family

    thieving … with the thugs

    ~young man, grown tall
    not up~

    tell me

    how you
    ate from dumpters
    slept on the streets

    how you laid
    with faceless
    hookers,
    wrestling
    demons between
    the sheets

    ~oooh young man
    grown tall,
    not up~

    your sisters mourn you
    as if you’re dead

    your brother bows
    and shakes his head

    you were the culmination
    of your mother’s dreams

    but even she couldn’t
    hold together
    your unraveling seams

    I prayed for you
    that you would learn

    and there is one bridge
    you did not burn

    ~young man, grown
    tall, not up~

    you darken your
    father’s memory

    but I’m still here
    come talk to me

***entering from the garden of serenity***

your pen constantly amazes me... Alyce, you scribe life as if it was panoramic in the eyes of the reader. allowing the emotions of life to flow onto the paper of dreams leaves the thoughts of the reader...in regression...

thoughts of life...beautiful...as is your pen
