'the Black Prophetic Tradition' ...what is that ??????
Not sure I can answer that, at least not with any kind of confidence that I could defend any bounds I happen to place on what it means to me.
I admit it's a phrase I pilfered from C. West, weather or not he coined the term I can't say, while his usage of it is rooted in the Christian faith he always seems to encompass a lot more than it excludes. He uses that phrase quite often in his messaging.
I suppose it can mean whatever anyone wants it mean, for me though it speaks to a sense of community, an openness to sharing and forgiving that I feel is seemingly a lost or being lost as part of our Black culture, a sense of oneness or purpose in our collective direction whatever spiritual path individuals happen to tread. Perhaps I am making the mistake that my Brother BP member Eddie Conway warns against in another vid of romanticizing the 60's too much but I remember it as a time of oneness, a time of open doors and open minds in a time of sharing and community, whatever the reality was though I doubt I'd made out of those days without the Black community to save me from the streets.
Any ways Brother that's my poor attempt at 'what is that'.
