    Hello Family,

Brothers ... will you help me understand The Black Male Ego?

Over the years we have experienced a cyclical eruption of Brothers bumping heads.

This doesn't happen with Sisters, so i'm thinking it's a man thing.

I'm honored to have been given this vantage point, to see you better, learn you, wallow in your wonderfulness, watch you communicate with each other, listen in on the conversations, and even share a thought or two ... but i need to understand you better to fully appreciate all i've been given.

It seems difficult for Brothers, especially amongst yourselves, to recognize how much of your own ego is driving the negative energies you are perpetuating (as it relates to your communing here).

This is how it looks to me, but of course i could be wrong. I apologize in advance if i am. Please correct me.

    I just wanna understand better.

How much of the fussing between Brothers is because of your ego?

Its dam near all because of ego
I feel like my views are the best
I am about self a lot of times
I think others judgements are right on with me
    I have a trmendous ego
Why am I like this/I think its not of my upbringing
I think its just a natural development of me
I feel like I am meant to be a leader in everything I do
There cant be release without people will to come to grips
We will have people that will debate these for weeks and weeks
But in my mind I feel that I am the greatest in whatever I do
So I think the backlash is that/When I see other perceptions
I have my own judgement but I wont go back and forth with these kats
I state my opinion and leave it at that/I kind of think it is childish
When I see these kats going back and foth for days and stupid topics
Yet the egos on this forum and much and sometimes we can get annoying
Maybe there is a cure within dont know!!

    ego?, what ego?

people who feel powerless will take an opportunity to exercise a little power. hence men who have a feeling of powerlessness in life will become very stern and rigid and attempt to make up for that feeling.

there are few black men who exercise any power in the world. if we truly had a cadre of brothers who were as hip as some cats try to make themselves appear we would not have the problems we experience in the world.
it's not ego, it's over compensation.

"This doesn't happen with Sisters, so i'm thinking it's a man thing."

In all due respects, Sister Destee, I have to disagree with this statement. I am sure that you may not experience this "ego tripping" as the owner of this site, but I am certain that Sistahs are responsible for the same. Maybe not in the same degree as displayed by Brothas, but I believe that SOME Sistahs are more "COVERT" and sneaky in how they do it (i.e. spreading rumors, back-stabbing).

If you don't know by now what I am talking about, I guess there is nothing more for me to say..especially when I may not KNOW the entirety of a situation, but I DO KNOW enough to KNOW that SOME, if not MOST Sistahs are just as guilty...

    Peace!
    Omowale..

"it's not ego, its's over compensation"

In all due respect, I believe it's a combination of both.

Thank you Brother James ... since all Black Men are made virtually powerless, under a system of white supremacy, is it safe to say that this type of behavior is exhibited by all Black Men ... until of course they learn what motivates the behavior and choose to change it?

Do you contribute any ego or over compensation, or have you over come this?

    Is it over-come-able ?

Brother Omowale ... of course you may disagree with my statement, but it is a fact. Sisters do not openly fuss and fight with each other here. They do not go on and on and on, until they're able to deliver that lethal stab to the chest, or walk away in frustration because they lost the fight. Sisters do not ferociously argue with each other (here), like some Brothers do.

Show me an example of that, and i'll stand corrected.

Brother O ... this thread is about The Black Male Ego ... can you give me any insight on it?

Brother Tantrum ... i'm not suggesting Sisters don't ever fight anywhere.

I am talking about what happens here.
