For the women that died on super bowl Sunday

The way the pop star did or did not sing
At a game that cost millions and women where beaten on the day.
There are so many women that lost there children in wombs that day
    Or lost love that day
Or got beat for the last time that day
And can't sing or walk or live anymore cause of that day and
Something they did "wrong" in there eyes of there abuser that day
There were some many glued to the blank channel that day they did not hear her scream that day
Or did not see her the next morning
Or Dark sunglasses were worn for work that day
Or her police officer husband went to work that day
With out being called an abuser that day
    She bleeds that day
And we watched that day with out seeing that day

Little war of non-response bleeds solider stories of
Men in women’s clothes for freedom of oppression
And we expose no negative that day

Little girls saw mother beat that day

Little boys picked up learned behavior that day

Its ok honey mommy just hit a wall

Instead of saying Daddy beat me and we are leaving
    She stayed that day

Thought it was true love that day
It was not the way for her to live that day
Her daddy cried that day her
    Buried her that day
It was cold and wet out side that day

And long winds road up her mother thigh that day
She cried like she was giving birth that day

Heart clinched in hand from wailing her song of pain

She cried, and cried, and cried,

    Bruises and slaps
    Bruises and slaps
    Bruises and slaps
    Bruises and slaps
    Bruises and slaps

    Slaps and Bruises
    Slaps and Bruises
    Slaps and Bruises
    Slaps and Bruises
    Slaps and Bruises

Know one heard her wail that day

    Slap

She hit the floor that day
    Bruises

    Hand to face that day
    Slaps

    Foot to rib that day
    Bruises

Hand on leg begging “it” to stop that day
    Slaps

Name called out of name giving
    Bruises

    On that day-

A day of boozing for an abuser, is a day of terror for the already abused. Deeply written piece here.

Love the way sister Watz so eloquently said this...

But...this made me think about all of the things in life that we value so highly; that it seems the world stops turning for the most frivolous things except for when it matters, when it's brutal, when there's a slow process of murder taking place...murder of the mind, soul and body....

and yet the only thing we hear is the crowed chanting...smothering the voices we should be hearing

Sister you are albeit a Sensation!

My breath was held in suspension as I read this poem. It was not what I was expecting by the title. Oh my, how profound this is...how profound...my goodness. My words have no sound for the expression of my emotions on this work. All I can say is thank you for opening my eyes a little wider.

Exodus......

What on earth can I say??? No one could have done this better. So sad that most of the nation was focused on this event and didn't think about the voices that were silenced. Powerful.
