I received a recorded telephone call from my bank saying that someone had tried to use my ATM card unauthorized and saying they were deactivate the card. I thought this strange because my card was right there where I left it. When I called the bank the lady told me right away that it was a scam trying to get information.

Rule of thumb: when some business legitimately calls you about your account they already know who you are and what your information is. The only time they need verification is when you call them.

Good thing you took the time to verify. Can you imagine how many people actually gave up their info?
