Tavis Smiley, host of the late night television talk show “Tavis Smiley” on PBS, in collaboration with the National Center for State Courts, is convening a series of town hall meetings under the banner “Courting Justice,” the first of which was held in Los Angeles on June 10th and will air on PBS stations on June 22nd (check local listings). Novel and commendable idea... almost poo poo'd it when I skim the headline though.

Here is why I realize this is really not going to do much, though it will create movement on the conversation.

Judges essentially rule on the laws that are already established.

Take this to the executive branches as well as police precincts, then the legislature.
For example, if there are laws that make it legal for "thugs with badges" to "shoot to kill", the Judicial Branches can't do anything about that. That's a matter for legislative reform.

The three branches of government within the US of A Inc.

  • Executive (President, Law Enforcers, FBI, etc)
  • Legislative (Law makers; Congress, Senate)
  • Judicial (Courts, Judges, Lawyers)

Well, most struggle for real change is a slow, arduous task. I agree, I don't expect an epiphany from this. But, it will be interesting to watch...to see how these people think.

Just confuse and dumb us with more comments from insiders and their own proposed 'solutions'...

'And how do feel (or think)!'
