Take Advantage of Anything You Can!

You've learned that you have to be quite aggressive to survive in this
business. There are some things however, that make marketing easier for you. Learn what they are, when they occur, and the impact they can have on your business!

Did you know that March is Small Press Month?

This is the time to set up signings and events that spotlight your books and your authors. Small Press Month is sponsored by Publishers Marketing Association and the Small Press Center. They also have affiliates; Publishers Weekly and RR Bowker. Some of the chain bookstores promote authors during March to recognize the contributions of small presses. There are lots of things you can do to gain attention to your company since libraries also support Small Press Month. This celebration has been in existence for 5 years. For more info please visit the PMA site at < >

March is also Women's History Month!

In 1978 the Education Task Force of Sonoma County, California, working on the commission on the status of women, initiated Women's History Week. This was to highlight the many accomplishments of women that had long been ignored. In 1987 this program was expanded to include the entire month of March. There are Women's Expos, and other special events during this time. This is also a good time for additional news coverage. For more information on this please visit < >.

These are just two events, find out more and use them to your advantage. This is how you sharpen your entrepreneurial skills and employ productive work habits. Oh, by the way, next month is National Poetry Month.

Well, that should keep you busy. Next time we'll look at ways to help others following in your footsteps!
