When i stepped into your Sweet Sanctuary
I had to make it mandatory
To hop into your bed just to let you know
That i liked you like no one else ever did,
And that this was as special as it could
Ever get, because i told you to take off
Your shoes and hop right in, so that we
Could snuggle and cuddle and be extra close
And when we did, it made feel so alive and free
Because i wish that our ancestors could see
That a black boy and a mixed kid were now allowed
To sleep in the same bed,
Not like people of our past heritage ever did because,
They were slaves forced to sleep in two different
Parts, only being allowed to speak on Friday and
Saturday nights during the slave dances, the only times
    When they weren't working,
The thought of this keeps my soul hurting
But now my people are making eachother breakfast -n- bed
And instead of having to serve it to somebody else,
And doing for others, we can do for ourselves
And in this Sweet Sanctuary i can read to you
My poems or a book from the shelf because we have
All this free time in the world without being anybodys'
    N!99er,B!*ch, or Boy
So, my black man, these moments of me liking you
Mean more to me than you will ever know...
In this Sweet Sanctuary where we get to spend endless
Quality time, because for You and I, this is more
    Than just a bedroom.

This piece made me ponder, no there was not much room for a loving relationship between us when we were enslaved. Well written scribe, welcome to destee.

l think this is the first form of love poetry that reflects,
values and appreciates the freedom to love closely-
a God-given love that was stripped from our people now is enjoyed by their descendants and we should be mindful of it just as you are...

    true classic.
