"If an individual does not maintain health insurance, the only consequence is that he must make an additional payment to the IRS when he pays his taxes," Roberts writes. He adds that this means "the mandate is not a legal command to buy insurance. Rather, it makes going without insurance just another thing the government taxes, like buying gasoline or earning an income."

How is this a good thing??
All those people out there who have now lost their unemployment and still can't find jobs because of the poor economy are now going to be taxed because they can't afford to buy insurance?
This is going to become another burden on unemployed people or people working part time.

ok so there is a government policy that you can BUY at anytime when you don't have insurance. What I am saying is that people who are NOT employed can't afford to buy the government plan and if they don't they will get taxed by the IRS.sigh
If you are unemployed, you will still receive the best of care under the law. Currently, you have to go thru emergency and receive just barely ok care. Under the law, the unemployed receive preventative care. Currently, they dont. It's good for all
