Some Black Slaves did get the 40 Acres..in Florida. Until the Southern States protested. Took it back the government. Stop awarding land.
Book writers today dont know anythjng about our true history. Read The Slave Narratives. Rewrite the truth into existence. Then the south trashhed tge land the government gave. Then we're admitted back unto the Union.

Special Field Order #15 or better known as "40 acres and a mule"

THE PROMISE WAS SHORT LIVED. IT WAS NEVER NATIONAL AS SPIKE LEE ASSERTED. JUST REGIONAL LIKE EYE SAID.

Yes, some formerly enslaved Black people received land under Union General William T. Sherman's Special Field Order 15, which included Florida.

President Andrew Johnson reversed the "40 acres and a mule" policy, which was a plan to distribute confiscated Confederate land (eg. This is really the code for Indian land; this defacto government is a facade.) to newly freed slaves following the Civil War, effectively taking away the promised land from them; this occurred after President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and Johnson took office.

Explanation
  • In January 1865, Sherman's order set aside 400,000 acres of land along the coasts of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

  • The order intended to give each family up to 40 acres of land to farm.

  • The army also loaned some mules to help work the land.

  • By June 1865, 40,000 freed slaves had been given land.

  • However, President Johnson overturned the order before the end of the year and returned the land back to the slaveowners.

  • Thousands of freed people were evicted from the land and were forced into sharecropping and peonage.

The promise of 40 acres and a mule was a key part of the idea that freed slaves could be self-sufficient and economically independent. However, this promise was not kept for the majority of former slaves. The promise was ultimately broken, and the government (eg under Andrew Jackson's direction) took nearly all of the land back within a year-and-a-half.
