    In the Destee Community, there are over 30,000 poems, stories and other posts relating to the concept of love,
    the overwhelming majority focusing on “romantic” love and sex.
    Because the idea of “romantic love” occupies so much of our attention, time, energy and pursuits,
    we will look at several aspects of it and look at an alternative.
    1) What is “romantic love” and why so many men try to avoid it;
    2) Why are there no concepts of “romantic love” in African cultures, languages or traditions;
    3) Why is “Black love” so much about sex and white romance
    4) What is “personal love” and what are its benefits.

    That is funny

    ..this would be Sunday's topic, one I will miss, but I was thinking just this evening about what I wanted in a relationship that should be simple, but it has always been complicated. I will be interested in seeing the log if one is posted.

    I too wish I could be there as you are about to shatter some serious myths that many of our African Sisters have in America regarding LUUUUVE!...lol They say they want a "ROMANTIC BROTHER" but I have never been a Roman myself. Wait till they find out that this concept of "what we call love is not universal and is indeed a creation of white people that we have been conditioned into". Man this is going to be a great class!!...oh well, at least I'll get to hear the audio.

    Once Again, Great Topic !!!

    Old Soul, I really enjoyed the class. thank you for veing so gracious as to extend it an additional two hours. But it gets me to wondering......did we ever examine what the original concept of love was amongst people of Arican descent?
