Black Poetry : Summer Fling

From day one I wanted to be held in your arms
Kissed and loved thoroughly while you kept me from harm
I knew all you wanted was a brief summer fling
But I was convinced we could be more
I wanted the real thing
So we decided to try it, just a summer romance
Cause I knew you would love me
I you just had the chance
We went out a few times, even fooled around
I spent most of the summer with my head in the clouds
I got pierced for you and let you take me there
And through the whole thing, you never said you cared
I thought you would love me if I just gave it time
I now realize you can't change a mans mind
You were just in it for the summertime fun
And I was convinced you were the one
I went against my instincts and better judgement
In hindsight my summer could have been much better spent
