    MICHEL MARTIN, HOST

Some of the concern about Florida's law allowing teachers to be armed is based on a 2014 study by Center for Policing Equity's Phillip Atiba Goff. Goff talks to NPR's Michel Martin about his research ...

    ABSOLUTELY!!!

Arming teachers with guns will be like giving teachers a license to kill black children. This neo action will surely bring a swift, retaliatory reaction from Black parents --who will not tolerate --one bit-' this latest form of racial profiling that will be passing from cops to educators...

WH proposes arming teachers, backpedals on raising age to buy guns

The Trump administration on Sunday night proposed providing some school personnel with "rigorous" firearms training and backed a bill to improve criminal background checks on gun buyers, but backpedaled on the idea of increasing the minimum age...

    Clyde,

Thank you for signing the petition demanding that teacher's aren't armed, like Turmp and the NRA want, and for schools to be a gun free place for safe learning!

Please share with your family and friends!

    Thanks!

Imagine what could happen when the same teacher that disproportionately punishes Black children for their behavior is armed with a gun.

5 Best Guns for Defending Your Home (Glock and Beretta Made the Cut)

    Kyle Mizokami
    March 7, 2018

New for 2018, Ruger’s PC (pistol caliber) carbine looks to be an excellent choice for home defense, combining the best attributes of a handgun and a long gun in a home-defense weapon. The nine-millimeter PC Carbine features a sixteen-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, fluted to reduce weight and threaded to accommodate muzzle brakes, compensators, flash hiders, or even a suppressor ...

As the Washington Post reports, leaders from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School — which Barron, 12, attends — and other private schools took out a full-page ad in the Sunday editions of the Post and other newspapers ...

... What we do not need is to arm our teachers with guns, which is dangerous and antithetical to our profession as educators.

I have read that there are 45 states that allow open carry of firearms and only 5 states that ban open carry of firearms and Florida is one of the 5. Along with Florida are California, Illinois, South Carolina and New York. For the states that allow it, what does that mean? For example, can't people in those states, including teachers already take their firearms to school?

Just got up from my 3 hour power nap. Glad this kook self destructed. Gotta run down below to do more BrightLine stuff so I'll make this short. Like yours truly about 99% of legal owners of short barrel firearms feel they should be open carry only. Florida only allows open carry by certified law enforcement officers on duty only. Same for G class licensed security officers on duty at work in uniform or plainclothes with a company badge and/or ID card affixed to their clothing. There are other lesser known classes and circumstances dictated by FDOA and FDLE but that's not relevant here. Many states forbid any employee of a school district from bringing any type of deadly weapon on school property and even having such in their personal vehicle which upon discovery can lead to dismissal from the school district, teaching license revoked and the offender arrested. Of course just like a White man "King Dump The Trump" implements the typical knee jerk band aid fix to a serious situation that needs to be researched then implemented in stages involving people already trained in the use of firearms, the law and violence mitigation and in some cases critical incident de-escalation. Not teachers, students, janitors, guidance counselors, nurses and the failed school Resource Officer Program needs to be dismantled and a real police department like NYPD assigns one MOF to each and every school in the 5 Boros of NYC accompanied by several NYPD School Safety Division MOF's and Miami-Dade County has it's own in-house certified police department. NYC has one of the most liberal (In theory) short barrel firearms guidelines but very few individuals qualify, of course like anything else regarding the privilege of carrying deadly weapons there is the "A Club" then there's everybody else in NYC if one get's my meaning. Like your avatar NNQ, that's definitely you.
