    I eat just fine
    So I guess you can’t say I’m….starving
But I do live check to check
And since poetry ain’t payin’ any royalties yet
I guess you can say I’m—a struggling artist
Hell my apartment has wall-to-wall LIVING room
And some days I use it as my stage and practice
In front of a starch can and a vacuum
Cause God’s callin’ aint’ paid for my couch set
And I know it might sound ironic to be broke and blessed
But if you don’t know what it’s like to watch your gift give life
To someone that flirted with taking their own, then you’ve never known
What it means to have a beautiful struggle
I’m troubled times when I try to craft rhymes that speak to your pain
But then God delivers breakthroughs from your prayers directly to my page
It’s the way things work best
That’s why it seems like I use open mic nights to get things off your chest
Like tellin’ women it’s okay not to have sex until his commitment
Comes full circle on your hand in front of God with vowels
Sometimes I use vowels to create action to put in front of change
So my people can’t be strayed by things like cheap talk.
    I’m walkin’ the revolution,
Refusin’ fruit from serpent’s learkin’ in grassroots’ movements
    Pretending to be down
God told me that it would be no easy road
Breakin’ the mold of minds already bound
But I was already bound to a life of sin
    Then repentance set me free
So I could speak words into souls
    Who once STRUGGLED like me

love ya style and ya message. yeah and maybe things are going to get better for artists eventually. most of us have moved on from starving to struggling. maybe the next up the line is surviving?

Well you're certainly speaking to me. Your expression was like a mirror, wonder how many of us have a self created stage at home just for ourselves. Many can relate, thanks for this.
