See, I’m the type of person
    That knows I’m not perfect
    But I reach for perfection
Although I don’t know if I’m headed in the right direction
    I could’ve given up
When they told me I wasn’t living up
    To my expectations
But instead I took the pain and failure
    And turned it into determination
When my coach tried to take my success
I could have let her, but I’m intrigued by tests
For so long I allowed it to happen
But then I was determined to take action
Yes I left the team and I do not regret it
She was tryna break me, it would’ve happen, if I let it
My happiness wasn’t there and my passion went down the drain
People were there for the lime light, not for the love of the game
When Washington State turned their back because I broke my leg
I didn’t cry, no I got down on my knees and prayed
Then I lifted my head and called New Mexico State
He wants me, He’s interested, He was happy about the call I made
Now let’s see what happens when its time to sign…

See, I’m the type of girl
    That wants the world
Because I want to be in control
Of my destiny, my heart, and my soul
I could’ve ended my life that everyone thinks is great
When I was befriended and raped
I’m not afraid to talk about it
Because I found away to walk around it
    Tears did stain my pillow
    But I found a window
That had a view of opportunity
    I could’ve given up
When my ex wasn’t living up
    To our promise to unity
    My dad was never responsible
My mom couldn’t handle me and her obstacles
    So I basically raised myself
Yes, it hurts to know at 9 yrs old
I was in a house with no food, cold
    W/o any help
    But I took my surroundings
    And found me
So that I can be something great
    See I’ve learned
    Don’t wait for your turn
    Life isn’t what u see, it’s what u make

See, I’m the type of teenager
That takes all of my anger
    And turns it into ambition
When my friends discovered I like females
They turned their backs and tails
    And never bothered to listen
I’m not afraid to admit my sexuality
Bcuz it doesn’t define my personality
    Love me or hate me
It’s not a person’s job to rate me
When my dreams turned to nightmares every single night
And I had to take sleeping pills to fight
Them away, but I kept striking
I figured all of this was a mountain
    And everyone’s doubting
Me, but I gotta keep hiking
    I don’t want anyone’s sympathy
Or a sad song from the symphony
Just take this and do not take ******** any longer
And let each lesson grow with you
God has a plan and he’s motivated to show you
That today is guaranteed to make you stronger…

Dang, I am tearing up over here, baby girl. But it's also tears of joy and of pride in you. You put all the reasons you're great into a tall stack of verses that flow like water. Beautiful.
