    for brief snatches in time
    happiness has been mine
    I've been want for not
    felt lucky with my lot
didn't want a thing to change
wished it could always stay the same
but the nature of life is impermanence
in universal energy, there's always turbulence
    so things shift and alter
and my life stumbles and falters
    I'm left alone and unneeded
    or underutilized and unheeded
    I keep swimming through waves
wondering if there's a place where joy stays

    ...Sister,
    when you find out
    please let me know
    Joy...is like the riddle
    of the sphinx to my
    heart and soul...

    These words speak...
    to me directly...

gempis...it is always a pleasure to read your work...you are such a lovely poet and profound...
question if joy stayed all the time...how would you gauge that it is..
sunshine and rain is how the song goes...and i don't know if i could have gotten such a terse tight creative work without both...
keep on ...a joy to read...a joy

'joy is like the riddle of the sphinx to my heart and soul'

You too huh, sister Sage? I knew if anyone would understand it would be you. Thank you, sweetie. Getting words from you on a poem is soul ointment.

deepy, good question and I see what you're getting at. My tragedies now serve as my foundation. But it just seems the moments of pure happiness are too far and too few between. I wish they would stay longer.

One of my favorite poems in the world is Robert Frost's, 'Nothing Gold Can Stay.' I was reading it this weekend, and the piece served as inspiration for this poem.
