You taught me the value of a song
and the worth of a smile
    To admit when I'm wrong
and to walk that extra mile

I learned to love with all I'm worth
from watching you open your heart
and the value of allowing my mind to give birth
and to finish everything I start

You taught me to look in the stars for my past
and for my future in each sunrise
To remember my ancestry with every windblast
my history with each receding tide

I learned to hold dear everyone who touches me
and to never disregard any omen
That I can achieve whatever I can see
you gave me the spirit of a woman
    For my Grandma Geneva
