    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

South African black doll breaks the mold in high style

Johannesburg (AFP) - She is black and trendy, and young South African girls are learning to love her.

Meet Momppy Mpoppy, who is a step ahead of other black dolls across Africa who are often dressed in traditional ethnic clothes.

Decked out in the latest fashions and sporting an impressive afro, complete with a tiara, Momppy could play her own small part in changing the way that black children look at themselves ...

Sweet! She could have been a bit more colored. Nonetheless it’s definitely a good thing!

Also, the founder and business owner that are manufacturing the dolls is a Black woman. Again have a Black woman done excellent, and this time given joy to millions of little Black girls around the world.:toast:

Indeed, indeed. [email protected] bit more colored, so true though. Thanks for the observation and response.

Coger thanks for posting. I have two grand daughters and found it very difficult getting black dolls for them. I know they are some black folks who don't see anything wrong in giving their girls a white doll. (Yet you will never see a white child with a black doll).

Why would any self-respecting Black parent give their Black daughter a white doll?? That is so repulsive! Poor child, have to play with Caucasian dolls because there aren’t any Black dolls in America. That is so sad..
