South Africa : South Africa Adopts an Open Electronic Document Format

For you guys out there that follow African government, politically, technologically or otherwise, this is an interesting story. The South African government apparently has adopted ODF (Open Document Format) as a standard in all government operations. The ODF format is equivalent to a Microsoft .doc, except it is open. So a regular citizen / programmer can read, write and make tools that will work with government documents. This is a great thing for Governments openness. The German government took similar steps a few years back when adopting linux (an open Operating System) as a standard for all government offices and operations.
