    Soul Trained

    We used to dance together
    in the soul train line
    we were couples in sync
    enjoying each other
    we slow danced touching
    like steppers still do
    at some point it changed
    first slow dancers separated
    then we danced alone
    finally the soul train line
    became two
    before we knew it
    we were dancing to
    totally different beats
    our souls on different streets
now our children think its strange
    to hold each other
    when we dance
    or love.

Yes, I remember that, oldsoul, when the couples used to dance with each other down the line, then the lines were separated between genders. Similiarly in life as well. Thank you for making us think, once again.

    Yep,
they trained, changed and mangled our souls
our sufficient other, ...we no longer hold
Such a pleasure to hear, our heart beat in tune
as we use to glide across the room.

Watch the soul train line today
wondering if they at war or play
Everything we had, been taken to another level
when we start fooling with them things called "devil"

i loved it! was it about divorce? and the affect on grown children? somehow i'm getting the image of adult kids not understanding that their parents-though separated/divorced/apart (on different streets, to different beats)-can still love each other (when you hold each other and dance together)...

but maybe i'm looking too much into it. that's the english teacher in me. (sigh) but my brother it was brilliant!

For me, these lines were the most rocking. They, so vividly, speak to the condition of Black relationships and the Black family.

The whole was great, though. I enjoyed the trip "back down memory lane."

For me, the message says that we need to "get our grooves back!"

    Well done! :toast:
