Black Poetry : Soul Food

Feb 22, 2001
I know that you bring out the best in me
Is it because you are my destiny?
Your light guides me where ever I go
Its the beacon to my faithful soul
Because of you I can always find my way home
And with you I am never left alone

You are my water in dry places
My solace in a sea of empty faces
You gave the words that guide my feet to walk
When on bended knees it is alone with you I talk

You are the food for my soul
My soul food, more precious to me then gold
Here I stand as only I can be
If you can use anything, you can use me
Use me until you use me up
Use me til nothing more fills my cup

All I ask is that you continue to feed the hunger
So I can reach that point where I will no longer wonder
I will thirst no more and no longer be empty
Fill me with all that is good and plenty

Once sated I will then be in pleasant sleep
I will meet you at the top of the highest peak
Then take me to that place I can be whole
The place where you feed me the food for my soul

Dedicated to my Father in Heaven.
