    The fire burns incessantly
the only thing that will put it out is the shake bang power of a trap in the pocket
I was sitting right here a minute ago
but I've been transformed and I got a good grip from the soul to the mind and I'm ready to rock it.

The tribal beat comes pounding on
long after the initial thrill is gone
I know this feeling can't be wrong.

    It's keeps me alive
    with the jumpin' jive
    so sweet to the ear
    Loud Crisp Clean Clear

This is the reason that I draw breath
It is me in life and love and death

    If imitation is pure flattery
the European please don't flatter me
you cannot be what you need to be
to see what I see whe I play it in "D".

From Rock to Roll to Rap to Blues
the Brothers wear the music shoes
if Mother Jazz had not come round
    America would have no sound
'Cept Gospel, Jazz with a Godly tone
That was here before the gramophone
to lead us by sound to the free men's ground
so we could express, not under duress
and you could remove the funk from the groove
and take it on tour and claim it as yours

But I know the truth I won't go for the ride
the song of my people is on the inside
