they wear the jump suits
color coded to identify
and classify
and they're shackled
together like animals
when they ride

the most day light
they'll get
is a field trip to
another
court house
and the outlook is grim

just ask the public defenders
just another day's work to them

ain't nobody postin that kinda bail
leave that nickaz *** in jail

I can only imagine the
ride, especially for
the first-time offenders
I know they think they
gonna die

so relieved to see a stretch
of landscape
rolling by

thinking about that
25 to life bid...
and being forgotten
in that hole
when they close
the lid

yeah, I smelled the
rubber burning
as the bus passed by

and I hurt
for all their mothers
and began to cry
