'They object to the president’s support of gay marriage, Romney’s Mormon faith'

Some black clergy see no good presidential choice between a Mormon candidate and one who supports gay marriage, so they are telling their flocks to stay home on Election Day. That’s a worrisome message for the nation’s first African-American president, who can’t afford to lose any voters from his base in a tight race.
The pastors say their congregants are asking how a true Christian could back same-sex marriage, as President Barack Obama did in May. As for Republican Mitt Romney, the first Mormon nominee from a major party, congregants are questioning the theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its former ban on men of African descent in the priesthood. The Mormon church lifted the ban in 1978, and the church has repeatedly condemned racism.

This was only a matter of time. However, Obama may be able to win without the Black vote except for swing states. In the Deep South which have large numbers of Black voters Obama did not win those states in 2008 so, in what states is the Black vote relevant when he got the white liberals including LGBT?

Makes me wonder what that old saw, *follow the money* yields up (when applied to this moral stand).

I wonder if telling church membership not to vote will cause the revocation of their tax exempt church status?

More wonder--like, is there still an office within the White House occupied by some kind of religious liason?

Did the Bush/Cheney policy of massive $$$ diversions from national safety net programs to churches sporting non-profit status prove to be a *more prudent and efficient* distribution of tax wealth and resources aimed at the poor/working class--but those billions shrank? Or essentially dried up?

Bush/Cheney had that diversion programming going on from 2000 to 2008, but has the POTUS continued that strategy?

Has the establishment of new cathedral sized church complexes and tv ministries slowed down? Swinging something like that takes BIG bank. How are the mega-church ministries doing? Have they been as profitable since 2008 as they recently found themselves to be (2000-2008)?

One Love, and PEACE
