I have been on a certain media site and notice that neither of them has did or provided:
    • connection
    • help with your job search
    • place to meet like-minded individuals
    • provide a place to promote professionalism
I mean how do anyone expect to grow if you can't ask questions or free to speak your mind?
I thought you are suppose to build relationship not to be judge or critique?
This is their in your face way of discriminate and exclude us out of hiring us.
They also use this method to conveniently use as a excuse for not accepting your application just the same as checking your credit rating.

This is another way to keep blacks further economically behind, for example they see you with pic's of your family or you enjoying yourself you get a call to human resources, whereas Bob the supervisor son has bong shots of him no call, Tina post a comment about her cat get a call, but has a option to remove it from her post.
You initiate conversation to introduce yourself no one ever responds or they check your profile,
I thought communication is a two way street, not a creep out session?
Everything is concentrated around this and your resume; if John hate your guts then, you don't get the job he can justify it by gathering dirt online about you.

We can nullify all of that by supporting Black owned businesses and thereby create jobs for our own people.

I do think we must be careful with the information we share publicly.

I don't think the Internet is the biggest hindrance to our people.

I think it's a great tool and resource! I love it! I love the technology. I love the opportunities that it brings to us as a people and to the entire world. It allows us to connect with each other in ways that would be impossible without it.

It is a two-edged sword I suppose, so be careful with it.

    Much Love and Peace.

blazejay ... keep your online profile clean ... don't let it have things in it that can hurt your job opportunities.

in fact, with the internet, you can use it to help your job opportunities.

you can have a blog with articles specific to your expertise.

this allows you to share the knowledge while also showcasing just how experienced you are

you can show off your writing skills - so many things you can use the internet for, in your favor

yes, there may be that occasional rant or story from someone who hates you ... we might all have that

but a company will probably look over that one story or two, in light of the great work you have on the table

there are always some negatives and positives in a thing - but make them work for you

be aware of them and go around them - avoid them - overcome them

i love the internet ... did i say that already?! :)

i think it holds so much opportunity!

This media does reflect our real lives

It also reflects the insights of individuals and it's general use among our other relations too

Yes a new means of quick communication

But as a organizing tool it's iffy at best

    And more forthcoming later

    fyi

Thank everyone for there insights and thoughts on the subject.
It really help open my eyes to some things that I probably miss or lack in understanding.
I feel that I gain a little, I understand more now.
It is a matter of using it to my advantage and leverage to achieve my goals.
