    Slowly Winding Down

Writing releases the thoughts that are locked in my mind
    The things nobody knows
    The feelings I never show
Locked in a world with no way in and no way out
    In silence I continually shout
But no ones there to hear my crying
I keep living each day yet slowly dying
    Keep winding down
As the voices around me become mere sounds
    Not thoughts no words
    Just things heard
During the night but more often at day
And oh my innocence they continue to prey
Trying to push me over the edge
But I grip tighter to the ledge
    Determine not to let go
    Determine to win this
    Not necessary 1st place
Just long as I reach the finish
