I read the below article with trepidation as I initially thought the idea of a Memorial Villiage in a significant slave trade point was valuable/interesting, but the title Slave to History gave me negative vibes.. and then the way they envision "Memory Villiage" to be in future.. seems.. I dont even have words for it.. Someone, please help me digest this correctly...

    ..........................................

A Colorado couple is determined to remember the past.

    http://www.westword.com/2008-01-03/news/slave-to-history/

"Before Haiti became the world's first black republic, it was a slave nation. On the island, there were quarantines, where a new slave was broken down, beaten physically, informed of his inferiority and told to be thankful to his captors — because it was the work that the slave would do for his masters that would lead to forgiveness and acceptance into heaven.

Now, more than 200 years after the slaves revolted, a former Colorado couple wants to commemorate the quarantine, which they believe is the source of the Western world's violence, racism and greed."

"Visitors to Memory Village would decide whether they wanted to be spectators or participants during a twelve-hour day. The latter would receive traditional African clothing and then be mock-kidnapped from their homelands, shackled, chained and forced to march to the slave ship (resting on a real stream), where they'd be piled in as cargo for the crossing of the Atlantic. Once the ship reached the New World, the participants would be brought to market and sold, then broken down in the quarantine and put to work out on the plantation. Near the end of the day, a slave rebellion would start, a rebellion that would eventually lead to the establishment of Haiti."

    I feel like.......
Caucasian people who intend to do things in reverence , recognition, or to help descendants of slavery are good intentioned......Part of me always believes that they are trying to make up for the past to make "us" feel better......

I do not really know how to take everything
I just really pray we can be in harmony.......
Sometime(Sometimes!) when things like this are done.....it makes matters worse
the last thing "we' need is for you to try and compensate for something that can not be erased.....but it also shows people are ready to live and not hate......

I just pray that we can live in Harmony
    Peace, Love and Blessings Family

When I was reading it I was thinking...only a white person would want something like that. Unsure if the people was white or not, I didn't want to put my foot in my mouth.

Why would any Black person what to relive an experiences like that? After experiencing something like that I may go and buy me a gun, and the rest is history for real.

amazingly enough - when I was reading about the government which had approved this Villiage, I was thinking "wow" - that's unusual.. that should have been a blaring sign in itself that the folks were white.. smh...
