    in my skin,
i was born on the wrong side of right.
never gave up on a struggle,
    never wished to fight.
    but had to becasue,
    all wouldn't change quickly.
    my wits and my brain,
    made my actions ify.
    so quiet and lonely,
but yet so much at peace.
    faces of pain and horror,
    we take our daily meet.
    but all is well,
    that starts off rocky.
    stupid lies,
    avenue cocky.
    i been there,
    done that-may go back.
    but like Ms. Angelou,
    i too-have a Christian lack.
    one time two time,
    three or more.
    you touch me-i touch you,
    drop to the floor.
    but i'm working on it,
    it ain't easy.
    it's like eating dry chicken,
    when it's greasy.
    in my skin,
    windows open up to behold.
    the cold and corrupted,
    human soul.
    can't see it-can't feel it,
but if you treat it wrong you will.
    living life to the fullest,
my brothers and sisters that's for real.
you ain't gotta crown me queen,
or roll out the red carpet.
just give me pen and paper,
and from there my kingdom will get started.
    life whips up on me,
like a mad mother on her child.
    but in the end,
    the whelps wore the smile.
becasue you see it's all about,
making the best outta the worst.
    afflictions come,
and i know your salty wounds hurt.
    but you keep on living,
    and keep on breathing.
trusting the only one you can,
    always believing.
    always and forever,
    until eternity says good-night.
    i was born,
on the wrong side of right.
    yep-this is me,
    in my skin.
    from head to toe,
    from beginning to end.......

    i once said i knew,
    now i know

thank you again (blushing) you speak of a turn angelicsage, what is it that makes my poetry now have a turn, i wonder...............i haven't quite put my finger on it yet. thanks again and i'm lovin' how the new poets to the page are branching out, and not getting caught up in the same old same ole., time for a change, and their bringing it to the page beautifully, but our ROOT poets are OUR roots............... :)

I adore this, and I surely relate to it. It's hard at first, but you have to learn to keep going, no matter what, and never give up. The hardest thing is not to pity yourself. Once you got that down, you got it.

angelic is right - your writing has really grown lately. I'm diggin it.
