    Sista wears her ego
    like a badge --

    decked out in amour propre
    covering the
    mocha glazed uniform
    of narcisism which she had
    accessorized by arrogance

-- but in reality she is empty
    and alone

    Sista knows she is cliche,
    has told herself to talk
    only in careful circles

    She salutes the
    morning sun
    ~ the only entity above
    herself

    She blinks away all rays
    of self-doubt and boards
    a tram toward her
    small domain

    In the company of other
    sistas...
    this too wears thin

    ...knowing other planets
    revolve around their own
    penetrating suns

    ~Salutes fall slack against
    such chanting
    and by the days end
    the arm
    may refuse to rise

What is left but a blinking
    before cobalt glare
    a salute
    of finger in
    musk-stained air

    I really like this one..

too true for so many who put themselves up on a pedestal...
only to find that when they fell they had further to fall and it hurt more on impact..when reality struck...

    just

tell the truth.... cuz beauty's only skin deep... (and I know you ain't just talking "physical" here....) but you feel me feeling you...

we could discuss possible reasons for someone over-emphasizing they emphasis...like that emptiness you speak of... could very well be manifested due to deep seated insecurities...which are then masked by over-bearing, obnoxious, delusions of grandeur types of behaviors... they call it overcompensation...

but that's ok, sis... we won't go there, so

just tell the truth, anyhow :D

very tyght-ly packaged (as ALWAYS) :)...

    but honest-ly... i don't see nothing wrong
wit a lil' ego trippin' every now & again. it keeps
haters on their toes & creates thought-full flows...
such as this! so... i'm wit Shery's daddy... let a
***** be a *****... as long as she's the best... even
if it's self-professed... as long as the fall from the
pedestal's not hurting you. LOL

Yep! I feel you ...feelin' me on this piece! :D Gurl you sound like a "Psych" major.... rollin'out them various terms for the many different behaviors that some folks seem to walk with daily!

Yes, you are right.... we could speak on this subject in many different forms/fashions and would never have the "complete" answer to why some folk have a tendancy to be 'van glorious' or have 'grandiose' thoughts of themselves...

Anyway.... when it's all said and done, what some pompous people receive in return is nothing more than

(which is just how I tie out this poem)

Thanks for the read & your response sistah frynd!
