Who do ya'll think is the best singer out of Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, and Keyshia Coles?
Ms. Leela James, sir - LOL!
Quiets as it's kept, Negro Harmony, NONE, positively NONE of the young neo-soul sisters can hang out with the ARetha's , Pattie's, Chaka's, and Gladys Knight's... But young Ms. James is right there, because seh's well-schooled, and appears to have paid her dues... She's got the pipes, but she don't sing all outta key, and put a lot of phony melismatic drama into her singing... Her emotion is true, and not scripted as these younger singers, who feel they gotta bring drama to sing soul... Most of the time it is forced, and phony as hell... So, while I might dig a few of these young females, I am impressed by none of them - except Leela, that is...
I couldn't pick either! If I had a choice though it would be alicia!
Lalah Hathaway ......if ya don't know betta read up on it.......check out the album Outrun the Sky.......yes suh......come on nah Isaiah...you don't even like Badu.......know what tho I think you'll like Lalah and yuh it's Donny's daughter.....
Oh, Yeah Red, I dig Laylah - especially that 1990 Heaven Knows Album(Baby, Don't Cry)... That piece was honey from cover-to-cover... But sister fell off the face of the earth until recently... Only thing I really heard and liked from her was that remake of FEVER she did with Joe Sample and company...
Once I heard her doing an interview where she said she wanted to do a tribute album to her father, doing his songs... Maybe, one day she'll do that, and win a grammy just bringing THAT brother back to our ears for a minute... Lawd, he was a master!(smile!!!!)
Man if she ever does that I'll get it site unseen..........that would be fire..specially if they do it as a set...with her remakes and his originals....na that would be a collectors item.....
and yuh Donny was a master......Brother was bad.....
I like Keys but i have to flow with Mary J. Blige she doing it ...my choice
Yes sir, brother, he was a man who could do it all, jazz, gospel, blues, R&B, and Soul... He could play that piano at an R&B concert just like he was in a church in St.Louis... You heard his live stuff, RED??? Beautiful is not the word... It's too weak and wishy-washy...(smile!)
THANK YOU MASTER, FOR MY SOUL... SOMEDAY, WE'LL ALL BE FREE...
Well, let's eliminated Keyshia Cole because she can't
sing. I would go with Mary because she came back hard
the "The Breakthrough". It is so,so,so good.
