SING ME A POEM, SING ME A BOOK.
    I want to hear you
I want to hear you sing
    A story about life
    Something
You only whisper to your pen
It can be a poem or a book
    Or something
That just needs to be said
From your anger or a tear
Whatever you want me to hear
    I want to hear
The rhymes that make your heart speak
And the rhythm of your words
    I want your tongue
    To conduct melody
And to feel the harmony in your breath.
I want to hear the desperation
    Of a pent up symphony
    Explode in my ears
And leave me hungry for more.
I’m not looking for empty notes.
    No entertainment for my ears
    I want to hear whatever
    Is on your mind
    Whatever your heart
    Is trying to explain
    I want to understand
What’s got you in that cage of yours?
I want to hear you sing
    Like a free bird,
Who knows the cage all too well.
I want to hear you sing me a poem
    So everyone can hear
    And those who are dyeing
    Have something to hold near.
    Or sing me a book
    And open eyes wide
To possibilities unknown and unfathomed and untold
    Sing me something
So that when I sing to you
    We both have something
    To hold on to

    maybe not a book...but

...I’ll sing you a quiet melody
‘bout life…and love…and a little of my misery
And all the things tossed into my river of tears
    Happiness…heartbreak…the greatest of my fears
I’d speak on the joy…you’ve brought into my life
From sing me a poem…to the beating of a wife
And future expectations, I’ll heap upon you
In expressing the deep, and artful side of you
    But, for now, I’m through

    WELCOME

    Wow, I love this...

It read like a song itself. The words rolled
    off my tongue soul-sweetly.

I really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing it with us.
