Simply Complex
Don’t you remember when what we had was simple?
When words came easy and kisses flowed like rain?
But now things are so complex
My lips search through darkness on a quest for yours.
My heart slowly tears apart and I can’t breathe.
Even tears stream down my face with struggle.
Baby, what made things this complicated?
When did things begin to crumble and fall apart?
Was I somewhere off in a field of dandelions,
Lost indefinitely in your brown eyes?
When I dream at night, all I see is the simplicity.
How when we embraced each other it lasted an eternity
And remember when you laughed and your eyes smiled?
But somehow we let the storm clouds roll in
On our beautiful sunshine and here we are….
Standing face to face or pen to pen
Giving love an algebraic equation…like
If we wouldn’t have placed hurt to the third power
And divided it by long distance and cheating
We’d still be in that state of sweet simplicity
But tears were shed and hearts were broken
And this love we shared was that much more complex
Sometimes, I watch for you in my dreams
I quickly try and grab hold of the love I still have for you, but
All I grasp is the last piece of my heart, slowly floating away
Baby you have to remember when we were free
When words came easy
And kisses f…l…o…w…e…d like rain.
