Trust / Honesty (Amanah)
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
"When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour." It was asked, "How will honesty be lost?
He said, "When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour."
Sahih al-Bukhari 6496
Lets take a look at the later part of the above hadith.
"When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour."
I acknowledge today that corruption is global but lets look at
America's (alleged) rulers.
Donald Trump or Joe Biden?
We all know Trump had multiple contact numbers in Jeffery Ep-stains black book.
While Biden seems to have his own issues. Such as his own daughter making some claims about him.
Bibi Netanyahu,
Israels PM is currently on trial for not 1, but 3 separate corruption cases.
Don't forget about those behind the curtain such as casino mob boss Sheldon Anderson and Bill Gates of hell. While they may not be (s)elected their wealth gives them authority.
Is there one with authority that deserves it? Anywhere today?
Prophet Muhammad said:
"A man will go to sleep whereupon honesty will be taken away from his heart, and only its trace will remain. He then will sleep whereupon the remainder of the honesty will also be taken away (from his heart).
So there will come a day when people will deal in business with each other but there will hardly be any trustworthy persons among them. Then it will be said that in such-and-such a tribe there is such-and-such person who is honest,
Sahih al-Bukhari 6497
Sadly today liars have become common place.
Look to your own household, spouse, kids, siblings. Your co-workers, your friends. How many are trustworthy?
Do you need to visit another town to find one whose absolutely honest? It is said in Islam one who tells a lie is removed from the religion.
Can a believer be a coward?
The Prophet said: “Yes.”
It was said to him: Can a believer be a miser?
He said: “Yes.”
It was said to him: Can a believer be a liar?
He said: “No.”
Maalik (3630)
, we know in the time of the prophets a man's word, was his bond. Today, people lie about what they had for dinner.
Reflect on these hadiths. Compare them to your personal situation.
Realize these words were spoken more then 1400 years ago.
Are they relevant today?
