Laptop standardization, good, bad and ugly

Laptops are better than they used to was, but......

Notice Shuttle is pushing their own system instead of putting forth a standard spec for other OEMs to convert to.

The real questions for me is can they make laptops like desktops with standardized swappable parts, components and assemblies? Will there be a DIY aftermarket?

Can they accommodate business, gamers, artist, engineering, and education folks with targeted needs?

Will they be multi-OS compliant or just MS Windows machines?
