Black Relationships : Should I tell this brother to date white women?

I know there is a lot of sincerity in your post…but let’s think about this for a second…if Black men and women keep “socially mismatching” and keep trying to get those of us of various cultural and social persuasions to change…this kind of frustration over the years may lend to unforeseen consequences, basically convincing some Black women or men that they CAN’T FIND someone BLACK that’s of like mindedness…which I believe is not true, but sometimes perception is everything…with this in mind, they could be unwittingly setting themselves up to ponder choices outside of their group. So maybe Aisha needs to focus on somebody who is of like mind, because I feel she is just as much in error trying to deal with somebody who's so opposed to her way of thinking, as is the brother she is dealing with.

There is many ways to look at this.

Just something to think about

True, very true. I agree

I'm glad you went into this distinction. There is a difference between political conservatism and social conservatism. Many blacks fall under the latter, including myself. When in comes to views on family, crime, and dating choices....I'm one of the most conservative brothers you'll ever meet. I even share some political conservative views, but only those I feel could benefit the black community.

I wouldn't go as far to say "most" black political conservatives mean well, I think only "some" of them do. The average black political conservative (Neo-con) is only concerned about "individual" gain, much like the black drug dealer. Also like the drug dealer, the black neo-con doesn't care how their pursuit of individual gain will affect the rest of the community. Indeed the overwhelming majority of neo-cons champion policies which are destructive to the well being & long term stability (continuance) of the black community. While differences of "intent" can be argued for some of them, the results of their actions (the drug dealer & the neo-con) are ultimately the same.
There's a big difference between CONSERVATIVES and NEO-CONS (neo-conservatives).

Conservatives are people irrespective of party affiliation who basically believe in conserving or preserving certain values and/or customs. White conservatives usually fall on the "right" side of politics and believe in perserving racist or capitalist values but that's usually not the case with Black conservatives.....as in my example of the NOI.

NEO-conservatives...on the other hand...are a tightly-knit group less than 10 years old made up of extreme right-wing idealogs. They are less concerned with pushing social or political issues and are actually more concerned with shaping foreign policy.
Neo-cons are the ones who came up with the plans to attack and occupy Iraq even before Bush got into office.

And like you, I consider myself quite conservative when it comes to social issues, but when it comes to political issues I'm progressive.

The problems "many" Black conservatives have is few Black leaders are actually addressing the moral and social crisis in the Black community as it should be adressed. They feel frustrated and loose faith in their own community.

When I was younger I didn't understand how one could be both Black AND conservative because I though it always equated to being racist; but the older I get the more I do understand because I understand the broader meaning of conservatism.

So technically, how would your common street gangster who'd kill his sister or brother over "territory" be any different than a Colin Powell or Condaleeza Rice who give orders to exploit the resources, murder, and create havoc and unrest in an African country??

In understanding every angle of "the game", we need to distinguish and not value one method of our destruction over another.
Understand that neither Colin Powel nor Condolezza Rice are true conservatives.

They are more "opportunists" and "yes men" doing the bidding of their master, than actual conservatives with conservative values.

They push foreign policy issues but are almost silent on social or moral issues so they don't really qualify.

Alan Keyes and Armstrong Williams are true Black conservatives.

But I'd rather my daughter to grow up and marry a Colin Powell or Alan Keyes than a Tookie Williams or Tupac. Atleast I know they'd have a relatively stable and comfortable home to raise their children in.

It's really more a "lesser of two evils" than actually PREFERING one over the other.

All

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a conservative....YET....lol.

And although I disagree with many of the issues most Black Conservatives have, I've still grown to have much more respect and appreciation for them than the street trash degenerating our neighborhoods today.

I'm just being real on my feelings.

I'm tired of seeing our women flock to these punks and give them respect.

I'm tired of seeing little kids looking up to them with respect and admiration.

Everybody is tring to "keep it street" now a days and the worse you act the more love and "back" you seem to get from the community.

Atleast the Conservative Negro "tries" to better himself and do what he feels is right and best even if his goal is "off" and he's slightly misguided.

Most of these thugs and criminals KNOW they're wrong and ain't trying to change or better themselves....they willingly and recklessly destroy the community.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

To me, this is like someone telling me to pick my poison. Why?? It all kills.

I can relate, but "batting" for the other team ain't the answer.

I've never been robbed or threatened by a Black conservative.

I've gotten in numerous arguments with uncle-toms on my job but no matter how heated they got.....none has ever followed me to the parking-lot looking to do physical harm.

I just think as a whole they are the "lesser" of two evils and deserve no more hatred or disrespect than those who are actively and shamelessly destroying our community as well as our image.

That's all.......

I agree totally.

I doubt most were born hating themselves or fighting for thier enemies.

I suppose at some point in thier lives most uncle-toms sat back and looked at life on the "Black side" and life on the "Other side"....

--I say "other" because it's no longer just Black vrs White, but Black vrs Everyone Else in America.--

...and they concluded that it's a hell of a lot easier, safer, and probably is more profitable conforming and working for the system.

Other's may have been threatened or extorted into aiding the enemy against their own.
