what can you say when one is going away...
    for good...
    we know...
    we both know
    this isn't
    packing off to school
    ...or summer vacation
    no words...
    the inner torrential downpour
    with the mask on top
    the aching heart
    and the joyful smile

"what would you like" the waiter asks
I'd like for her not to go so far away..
I'd like for her to be l0 or l2 or l6 again
    the inner soul replies
seaweed salad and two pieces of yellowtail
    the outer voice releases
    We smile...
    no words
the silence is so loud it burns my ears

    she's calm and focused...
    so unaware..that in a moment
the weight of her decision will hit her
    overwhelmed is what she'll be
    tearing and crying mommy...mommy
    and me...
    i'll be 7 hours away
no train or bus or car
    will take me quickly there..
    no words
    what can i say...

    dichotomous waves
    encircle me...
    i want you to be
    your own person...adventure and live
    and yet...so far from me...
emotion brims...water rests at every edge
    wanting to flood...
    i stay contained..
    no words

neither one of us say, anymore
what we feel...we did that before
    talked about this letting go
    this moving on, this moment...
    this understanding of diffrent loves
    it had to be someday...
    emotional that its today
we hold each other oh so tight
    pure forever love ..no fight
    no words.

    ...ooh my baby girl
    it is true
    she's leaving...
    and taking the cats too...

Awwww, deepy. Can't say that I have been through this, not yet. The closest I came was when my daughter went away to school for a semester. Such a genuine heartfelt piece. I know she will always be your baby girl, but she will be okay, and so will you. Hugs to you sis.

...This piece pulled my heart into a spiral of
"when that day comes for me"...
of course...that day is so recurring
    for a mother...

    "their first day of school"
    "their first sport or activity"
    "their first sleepover"
    "their first heartbreak"

...the day, they finally venture out into the world on their own

Sister...I feel this piece on so many levels

    Wonderful, Wonderful poem...
    Much love,
    Sage

What we let go ...we get back,
what we try to hold ...we lose.
    Your "tear-stained" smile...will shine.
This is such a lovely scribe...you're at the door, where we're all been/going, thanks for allowing us to step into your world.
